Post-Publication Review Policy

Post-Publication Review Policy

The Journal of Rawalpindi Medical College (JRMC) recognizes that the scientific record is a perpetually evolving entity. To safeguard the integrity of the medical literature and protect public health outcomes, JRMC strictly adheres to the globally recognized frameworks established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). This document outlines our policies for handling post-publication scholarly debate, correcting literature errors, and retracting unreliable or unethical research.

  1. Post-Publication Discussions and Scholarly Debate

JRMC openly invites post-publication debate and critique to maintain research integrity and foster scientific discourse. We recognize that post-publication review is a vital mechanism for readers to seek methodological clarification or highlight potential analytical flaws.

  • Submitting Concerns: If errors, inaccuracies, or misconduct allegations are identified after publication, readers and authors are urged to promptly communicate these concerns to the editors via email at editor@journalrmc.com, or by mail to the JRMC Office, Rawalpindi Medical University Old Teaching Block, Tipu Road, Rawalpindi. Where possible, correspondents should provide evidence to support allegations of misconduct or questionable practices (e.g., copies of overlapping publications, evidence of plagiarism).
  • Evaluation of Critiques: The editorial board rigorously evaluates submitted critiques for scientific substance. Critiques must rely on empirical evidence and refrain from defamatory language.
  • Right of Reply: If a critique is deemed scientifically valid, JRMC extends an invitation to the original authors to respond within a strictly defined timeframe.
  • Publication: Both the critique and the authors' response may be subjected to independent peer review. If accepted, JRMC aims to publish both documents simultaneously to present a balanced academic exchange.
